With the aging population, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia are an expanding problem and an enormous challenge for New Zealand. It is vital for the present and future health care needs of New Zealanders that we vigorously pursue research on all fronts in order to provide appropriate care and support for people affected by dementia and their families, and, most importantly to pursue scientific research on the development of new treatment strategies.
